Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer Systems
Precision-Critical Grouting. Tailored by a Real Manufacturer.
Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer
No matter how advanced your grout, patch, or coating system is—it’s only as good as the surface it sticks to.
ZDSpoxy’s Solvent-Free Epoxy Primers are engineered to bond to challenging substrates: damp concrete, oil-exposed floors, old substrates, and poorly profiled surfaces. These primers improve adhesion, seal pores, suppress bubbles, and provide a chemically-compatible base layer for subsequent grouting, coating, or repair.
- No middlemen
- Fast prototyping
- Private label available
Why Primer Is Not Optional
| Problem | Without Primer | ZDSpoxy Solution |
| Damp or saturated concrete | Weak bond or delamination | ZDS2870AB wet-tolerant primer |
| Oil-contaminated surface | Repels epoxy or causes fisheyes | ZDS2870AB penetrates & anchors into pores |
| Dusty or unprofiled substrate | No grip, peeling after cure | Improves substrate wet-out & bond area |
| Bubbles or voids in overlay grout | Air escape from concrete | Pore sealing before pour/coating |
✅ Compatible with ZDSpoxy grouts, injections, patch mortars, and coatings
✅ Solvent-free = safe for food areas, closed spaces, marine jobs
✅ Fast-curing, deep-penetrating epoxy basecoat
Where to Use ZDSpoxy Primers
- Wet or partially cured concrete (e.g. early-age slabs)
- Oil-contaminated concrete in factories/garages
- Cold-weather sites with condensation
- Substrates before epoxy grout pours
- Primer under epoxy coatings / repair mortars
- Vertical or overhead patch prep
- Seawall, port, or tidal zone structures
- Food-grade and confined areas (low odor, 0 VOC)
Recommended Product: ZDS2870AB
| Property | Performance |
| Adhesion to wet concrete | >2.5 MPa pull-off strength |
| Cure conditions | 5°C–35°C, surface moisture ≤95% RH |
| VOC content | 0 g/L (solvent-free, non-flammable) |
| Packaging | 2-part system, 1:1 ratio |
| Compatible with | All ZDSpoxy grouts, repair systems, coatings |
| Coverage | ~0.25–0.35 kg/m² depending on surface profile |
Application Tips
- Surface should be clean, no standing water
- Apply by roller, brush, or airless spray
- Wait until tack-free (~4–8 hours) before applying overlay
- Do not allow primer to puddle in low spots
- Avoid mixing more than needed (pot life ~30 mins at 25°C)
- Can be reactivated with light sanding after 24h cure
Real-World Project Example
A port maintenance team used ZDS2870AB as a primer before applying ZDS1417AB underwater epoxy grout to wet dock slab edges during tidal repair.
No delamination was reported after 9 months of saltwater exposure and tidal wetting cycles.
In another job, ZDS2870AB was used under ZDS400-4 topcoat on a warehouse slab with old oil stains—achieved >2.8MPa pull-off adhesion.
Don't let the surface ruin your system.
ZDSpoxy primers help you bond with confidence—even when the concrete says “no.”
